For many people day-treatment is seen as the logical step-down from in-patient hospitalization for mental health issues but, at The Utah House, day treatment is more than just a step-down program. Our program is designed to help youth who struggle at home, in school, or within the community, regardless of the services that they have received previously. When the young person in your life is suffering from mental health issues, and you feel that standard therapy services have not been effective then our day-treatment program may be the solution that you are looking for.
In our day-treatment program students are able to receive the benefit of an intensive level of care including; group therapy sessions, individual therapy sessions, behavioral management services, education services, and medication management and evaluation services. However, in day-treatment your child will not have to be removed from their home and placed in a hospital setting, instead your child will be able to receive these services in a school-like setting and return home at the end of the day.
Through the combination of group and individual therapy, medication management, and behavior management services our team works to address the symptoms and behaviors that your youth is experiencing as well as the underlying problem that is interfering with your child’s day to day living. We also believing that true healing comes from involving all of the people in your child’s support system including you, their school, their primary care providers, and any other individual or agency that makes an impact in your child’s life. Family therapy services may also be included in your youth’s day treatment so that we may offer the most thorough level of support in order to promote wellness and healing.
The goal of our day-treatment program is to help your child return to their traditional school setting and everyday life. We know that our students have been successful when they are able to use the skills that they learn in day treatment at home, and within the community. The Utah House want to help promote success in every aspect of the lives of the youth who participate in our programs.
Therapy types offered in our day treatment program include but are not limited to EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT ) and more.
Common issues faced by our day treatment program’s students include but are not limited to; depression, anxiety, reactive attachment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, grief and loss, PTSD, adoption related issues, truancy and more.
Once our students complete day-treatment and are able to return safely to school, the Utah House will continue to offer support and services to ensure that your child continues to be successful! When day treatment ends you and your child will still receive support through continued therapy services and behavioral management services, for your convenience, these services are available both in our offices and in your home.
